Learners' skills can be determined by their progress in training (automated assessments) or through the assessments performed by their managers (manual assessments). Administrators can weigh the importance of these assessments on the learners’ final rating.
There are three types of assessments, though only two (automated assessments and manual assessments) are used in performing a skills assessment.
- Automated Assessment
The automated assessment rating of a skill corresponds to the learner's score on the connected exam questions. The automated rating for a skill connected to an exam question is updated according to how the learner scores on that question. - Manual Assessment
The manual assessment rating of a skill corresponds to all the assessments managers and administrators complete for a learner for that specific skill. An administrator can assess all Academy learners by using the Perform Assessment page. Managers can use the Perform Assessment page to assess the members under their organizational structure at any point. Additionally, administrators can request their managers assess the learners under their organizational structure. This assessment also counts for the learners’ manual assessment rating. - Self Assessment
Regular users may assess themselves if their Academy administrator has activated this option through the Advanced Academy Settings. However, these assessments do not count in the learners’ overall manual ratings. The self-assessment rating only works to help administrators better understand the perception gap between how learners and managers assess the learners’ skills and abilities.
Navigation: UKG Pro Learning > Academy Workspace > Development Admin > Skills > Assessment Settings
- Adjust the bar to achieve the desired ratio between Automated and Manual Assessments on the learners’ final rating.
Example: A learner's final rating can be set to 49% for their automated assessment rating and 51% for their manual assessment.
Note:
The Automated vs Manual Assessments bar adjusts the weighting ratio between automated and manual assessments to calculate the final combined score of a particular skill. This adjustment affects only the scores displayed in UKG Learning > Team Workspace > My Team Dashboard > Skills > By Person. When the Automated Assessment from Online Training is assigned a 100% weight, skills rated by managers still appear in the From Managers tab. However, these ratings are not taken into account for the combined calculations. - Choose which exam scores are counted as skills for automated assessments using the radio button. There are two options:
- All Exam Attempts -- passed and failed exam attempts are used when calculating an automated assessment. This gives a more holistic view of a learner's skill strength.
- Only passed exam attempts -- only passed exam attempts are used when calculating an automated assessment. Selecting this option opens two more choices. Use the radio button to select:
- Only Score from first Passed Exam attempt -- the first passing score is used for the automated assessment.
- Average Score from All Passed Exam attempts -- the average score of all passed exam attempts is used for the automated assessment.
- Your selections are saved automatically.
Note:
A skill-connected course should always include an exam and the skill should be connected to at least one exam question. Otherwise, the automated assessment will be incorrect.
