Manage Exam Attempts

The Learning solution allows Academy Administrators to manage learners' exam attempts. From the My Team Dashboard, Administrators can:

  • Add an attempt and populate it with the desired information
  • Edit an attempt (whether the attempt was successful or unsuccessful)
  • Delete an attempt, allowing the learner to retake the exam
  • Unlock more attempts
  • Add a comment for each exam attempt

All exam attempt management is done from this location unless stated otherwise.

Add or Edit an Attempt

Administrators and those with the Edit Exam Score permission can add or edit an exam attempt on behalf of a learner.

  1. Locate the exam and expand the Details section. 
  2. To add an attempt, select +Add Attempt by Admin. To edit an existing attempt, locate it and select the Edit Attempt (pen and paper) icon. 
  3. Enter an Attempt Date and Points.
  4. (Optional) Enter a comment about this attempt.
  5. Select Save

Note: 
Adding and editing attempts are also available for SCORM exams, however at least one learner must have taken the exam for the option to be available.

Delete an Attempt

Delete an attempt to allow a learner to retake an exam if they have reached that exam's attempt limit. This option is available to Administrators and those with the Delete Exam Attempt permission.

  1. Locate the exam and expand the Details section. 
  2. Locate the attempt to delete and select the Delete Attempt (X) icon. A dialog box opens asking you to confirm the deletion.
  3. Select OK to delete the attempt.

Unlock More Attempts

Administrators and those with the Edit Exam Attempt permission can unlock more exam attempts for a learner without deleting past attempts. 

  1. Locate the exam and select the wrench icon after the exam name. A new section, Grant More Attempts, is displayed.
    Note
    The wrench icon is only available if you are an Administrator or have the Edit Exam Score permission and the exam is configured with a limited number of attempts
  2. Select the radio button next to the number of extra attempts to grant (1-10). 
  3. Select Save

Mass-Add Exam Attempts

Download and complete a template to upload exam attempts for multiple users. 

Navigation: UKG Learning > Team Workspace My Team Dashboard TrainingExams

  1. Locate the exam and select it by name.
  2. Select the Download template for massively adding exam attempts icon.

  3. Fill out the template as needed. The required fields are:
    • At least one of the following:
      • User ID
      • User External ID
      • Email
      • Employee Number
    • Date (MM/DD/YYYY) for the attempt
  4. (Optional) Add Points for the attempt. If a points value is not assigned, the attempt will be given zero points.
  5. (Optional) Add a Comment about the attempt.
  6. Select the Upload file for massively adding exam attempts icon and upload your file. The process is not instant but should be completed shortly.

Report on Added Attempts

Administrators and those with Reporting permission can track added attempts in the Report Builder (UKG Learning > Team WorkspaceReportingReport Builder) using the following fields: 

  • Attempt Added by Admin
  • Attempt Added by Admin Comments
  • Attempt Added by Admin Firstname
  • Attempt Added by Admin Id
  • Attempt Added by Admin Lastname

You can also identify the attempts that were Added or Edited by an admin on the Employees Dashboard and check any comments that have been added to them. For the Edited attempts, you also have the option to restore them, by selecting the Restore icon.
