Publish a SCORM from Articulate Storyline 2

The Learning solution allows you to add lectures to courses by uploading your own files, such as SCORM files (SCORM 1.2). Before you can upload the file to the Learning solution, you must prepare your SCORM slides, content, and quizzes in your authoring tool. For this example, the authoring tool is Articulate Storyline 2.

  1. Go to the Home tab on the Storyline ribbon and click Publish.
  2. When the Publish window appears, select the LMS tab on the left.
  3. Enter the course Title in your published output. It defaults to the name of your Storyline project file. (Changing the title does not affect the name of your project file.)
  4. Use the Description field to give learners a synopsis of your course. Currently, the course description only appears on information cards in the Articulate Mobile Player app.
  5. Use the Folder field to indicate where you want to publish your course (for example, your computer desktop). Select the ... (ellipsis) button to browse to a specific location. Storyline creates a new folder in that location with all the files needed for your course.
    Important:
Always publish to your local drive. Publishing to a network drive or a USB drive may cause problems with your published output. After publishing to your local hard drive, upload the output to a web server for testing. In this case, it is uploaded to the UKG Learning LMS.
  6. Publishing for HTML5 and mobile devices
    • Select Include HTML5 output: This prepares your course so that it is viewable as HTML5 content. Bear in mind that
      Note:
All web browsers do not handle HTML5 content in the same way.
    • Leave Use Articulate Mobile Player for iOS or Android deselected. The Learning solution has a mobile app (Android and iOS) that views and plays SCORM files.
  7. (Optional) Set the settings of Storyline Player that appears on the inside of your SCORM.
    • Select the Title box to display the title within the SCORM.
    • Select the Volume box to allow control of the volume bar within the SCORM.
    • Select the Seekbar box to allow dragging of the seekbar within the SCORM.
  8. Select option Other and then set the following options:
    • Set the Browser size drop-down to Resize browser to optimal size
    • Set the Player size drop-down to Lock player at optimal size
    • Deselect Launch player in new window (creates launch page)
    • At the On restart drop-down, select Prompt to resume to prompt the learner to either continue from the last viewed slide or to restart the course from the beginning of the SCORM when they reopen the course after closing it.
  9. In the Publish Quality section, select the Standard radio button.
  10. In the Reporting and Tracking Options section, select the Tracking tab.
  11. Select the radio button for Track using quiz result.
  12. Select the Reporting tab. On this page are your reporting details, such as LMS Course Information, LMS Lesson SCORM Information, and so on. The only option that must be configured here is LMS Reporting. In the LMS Reporting section set the Report status to LMS as drop-down to Passed/Incomplete.

For SCORM 1.2 Version & 2004 4th Edition, the Report Status to LMS should be: Passed/Incomplete

    Important:
Ensure the LMS drop-down is set to SCORM 1.2. The Learning solution only serves SCORM version 1.2.
  13. Select the Publish button.

After selecting Publish, you are prompted to save the file on your hard disk.
  14. Export the SCORM file by selecting the ZIP icon.

Select a location to save the file. The SCORM is saved to your computer in .zip format and is ready for upload.
