Add Lectures to a Course

After creating your course (see the Create a Course help topic) you can start adding content and lectures.

There are a few ways to add lectures to a course:

  • Add them from your resources
  • Add them by uploading files
  • Add them by using web content

Navigation: UKG Learning > Academy Workspace > Training Admin > Manage Training > Courses

  1. Select a course by title. This takes you to the Course Panel
  2. Select Lectures under the Lectures section.
  3. Adjust the settings as needed.
    1. Fast forward through video lectures: Allow or Deny
    2. Download document lectures and supplemental material: Allow or Deny
    3. Copy text from document lectures: Allow or Deny
    4. Make clips of audio and video lectures: Allow or Deny
    5. Learners can make their annotations public: Allow or Denysettings.jpg
  4. Select an option to add lectures:
    • Add lectures
    • Upload video or audio
    • Upload documents
    • Upload SCORM
    • Upload presentations
    • Import from web

Add from Your Resources

  1. Select Add Lecture. You are taken to your academy's resources.
  2. Drag and drop desired content from your resources to the bar at the bottom of the page. You can rearrange the order of content in the bar now, or wait until later.
  3. Select Save.public resources.jpg

Add by Uploading Files

  1. Select Upload VideoUpload DocumentsUpload SCORM, or Upload Presentation. All work similarly to each other. A pop-up window opens.
  2. Select an item from your computer or one of several online storage services. Either choose the item or drag and drop it into the box presented.
  3. Select Upload. The item is added to your resources.
  4. Edit the title and description of the item as you want it to appear in the course. You can also add it to other academies, courses, groups, learning paths, in-class training, or virtual sessions.
  5. Select how the material should be handled within the course. Where you place the material determines these options. Some examples include:
    • As a new lesson
    • As a new lecture
    • As material (not tied to a lesson or lecture)
    • Update an existing lecture

Note:

  • You can add subtitles to video files by uploading a valid subtitle file type(such as .vtt, .srt). Please note that you should select the language before uploading.
  • You can cancel the upload process if needed. Hover over the top bar, and you will see a small X that appears at the top right corner. Select the X button and confirm to cancel the upload process.

Add Web Content

Importing content from the web allows your courses to use content from YouTube, Vimeo, TED videos, slideshare presentations, or many web pages. For the most popular content sites like YouTube, Vimeo, and Slideshare, the Learning solution keeps full track of the learner's progress and provides the instructor with basic analytic data.

  1. Select Import from Web. A pop-up window opens.
  2. Enter the URL or embed code.
  3. When finished, select Fetch.
  4. When the content is loaded, a new pop-up window appears. Edit the title and description and select where you'd like to place the content.

Note

  • No information is communicated between a video streaming site, like YouTube, except that time was spent there. Externally hosted videos may not continue correctly when revisited.
  • External videos, like YouTube, are controlled with the site's native video player. Options like those preventing a viewer from skipping ahead do not apply to externally streamed videos.
  • There is no way in the UI to retrieve a web link after it has been uploaded as a lecture in a course.
