Why a Course May Not Be Marked as Complete

If you or your team members notice that a course is not being marked as complete even after finishing all the content, this could happen for a few common reasons. Below, we walk you through the most likely causes and how to fix them.

1. The Lecture Was Not Properly Closed

Some courses, especially those that include SCORM files, require users to select Save and Exit at the end.

Even if all videos and materials have been viewed, the system won’t record the completion until this button is selected.

How to fix it:

  • Make sure to go through every lecture or video in the course.

  • When finished, select Save and Exit at the top right of the screen.

  • This action sends the completion data to the system and updates your progress to 100%.

2. The User Did Not Achieve a Passing Score

If the course includes an exam, it may require a minimum passing score (for example, 80%) to be considered complete.

Even if the exam is taken, the course is not marked complete until the required score is met.

How to fix it:

  • Retake the exam.

  • Achieve the required passing score (usually shown before or during the quiz).

  • Once the passing score is achieved, the course updates to complete.

3. The User Is Not Properly Enrolled

In some cases, the user may not actually be enrolled in the course, even though they have access to its content. This can prevent the system from tracking and updating their completion.

How to fix it:

  • Verify that the user is properly enrolled in the course.

  • If not, enroll them and ask them to complete the course again.
