Overview
When a course is retired in OpenSesame, it is automatically archived in Learning through the system integration. This article explains how this process affects your academy content and users.
Archiving behavior
When an OpenSesame course is retired:
The course is archived in Learning.
Archived courses are no longer available to users.
User progress data is retained.
The Do not unassign enrolled users setting is applied during archiving.
Impact on learning paths
If the retired course was included in one or more learning paths:
The course is removed from each learning path
Learning path progress is recalculated
User progress is updated to reflect the removed course
Impact on user completions
User completions remain unchanged.
If a user completed a learning path that included the archived course, the completion status remains complete.
Key takeaway
Learning applies the Do not unassign enrolled users setting when archiving OpenSesame courses.
This setting preserves user progress, even though the course is no longer accessible.
Users cannot launch the archived course. However, progress data and completion status remain visible on the dashboard when the Archived Courses filter is applied.
