Scenario
Some training categories and the courses within them are not visible to learners, even though they appear to be set to Public.
Explanation
From the administrator view, all categories and courses appear public. However, when viewing the platform as a learner (for example, through a backdoor login), certain categories and their courses are missing.
This issue is typically related to category-level permissions.
Category visibility is controlled by Read permissions applied to the category itself. Even if a course is public, it remains hidden if the category containing it restricts Read access.
If a category does not grant Read access to the appropriate learner groups, neither the category nor the courses inside it will display in the course catalog.
Resolution
To make the category and its courses visible, review and update the category’s Read permissions.
Navigation: UKG Learning > Academy Workspace > Training Admin > Manage Training > Training Categories
Select the category that is not visible to learners.
Select Change permissions.
Review the Read permissions.
Locate the All Team members group or the specific learner group that requires access.
Ensure the Read checkbox is selected for the appropriate group.
If the category uses specific permission rules:
Confirm the existing rules include the intended learners.
Create new rules if necessary to include the correct learner group.
Once the appropriate Read permissions are enabled, the category and all public courses within it become visible in the course catalog.
