When you offer training in multiple languages, it is important that learners can easily find the courses intended for them.
In some cases, administrators can see courses in the Library that learners cannot find when browsing or searching. This situation often occurs when the course language does not match the learner’s Preferred Language setting.
Situation
Administrators and learners do not always see the same courses in the Library.
Admins can view all courses, regardless of the language assigned to them.
Learners see only courses that match their Preferred Language setting.
If a learner cannot find a course that exists in the Library, the course language likely does not match the learner’s Preferred Language.
Preferred language matching
The platform is designed to help learners locate training in the language that best supports them.
A course appears in a learner’s Library only when the course language matches the learner’s preferred language setting.
For example:
If a course language is Spanish (Europe)
And the learner’s Preferred Language is English
The course will not appear in the learner’s Library.
This filtering helps provide a more relevant and streamlined learning experience.
Language localization
Localized languages are treated as separate language options in the platform.
For example:
Spanish (Europe)
Spanish (Latin America)
These are considered two different languages.
If a course is tagged as Spanish (Europe) but a learner’s Preferred Language is Spanish (Latin America), the course will not appear in the learner’s Library.
Ensure course visibility
If a learner cannot see a course, verify that the learner’s Preferred Language matches the course language.
Verify the course language
Check the language assigned to the course in the Library.
Example: Spanish (Europe).
Update the learner’s preferred language
If necessary, update the learner’s Preferred Language setting.
Go to the learner’s profile.
Locate the Preferred Language setting.
Select the language that matches the course language.
Select Save.
Once the learner’s Preferred Language matches the course language, the course appears in their Library.
Summary
If a learner cannot see a course in a specific language, the most common reason is a mismatch between:
The course language, and
The learner’s Preferred Language setting.
When these settings align, learners can easily find and access the correct training.
