Create a single-event course with restricted visibility

When you set an event as required for course completion, it becomes a mandatory step for all learners assigned to the course.

Required steps must be accessible to all assigned learners. Because of this, events required for course completion do not include the Connect to Org Structure option, and required steps cannot be restricted by organizational structure rules. This behavior ensures a consistent completion path for all learners.

Create and control access to a single-event course

Use this approach when your course includes one required event and you need to limit who can access it.

To set up the course and control visibility:

  1. Add the event to the course and set it as a required step.
  2. Assign the course to a training category and configure visibility rules.

Course completion occurs when the learner completes the event. Only users with access to the training category can view and access the course and event.

Understand why this approach works

Learners with access to the training category can view, attend, and complete the event. The course is marked complete when the event is completed, and users outside the target group cannot view the course or event.
